![]() To makes things a little easier to digest, we have categorized everything into sections and sub-sections that cover things such as cosmetic alterations, UI, and usability changes. Subscribe to the official 9to5Google YouTube channel Even so, here is every new user-facing feature, alteration, design change, or tweak in Android 12. The early phases of the Developer and Beta program even saw some new features that have since been added to Android 11, courtesy of the immensely popular Pixel Feature Drop series. If you’ve already been updating your device since the very first beta or even the previews, then there likely won’t be any surprises right out of the gate, but there may be some tweaks and enhancements you simply weren’t aware of or haven’t even used yet. Our goal is to cover as many of the new features that have been slowly introduced and refined over the Android 12 Developer Preview phase - and the associated public-facing Beta program. The vast majority of new additions, features, and enhancements in Android 12 are instantly obvious in the design, interface, and operation of what is, frankly, a massive update over the minor update that was Android 11 overhaul - which was effectively Android 10+ or Android 10 Lite. There are mountains of under-the-hood improvements that will undoubtedly enhance your overall experience, but they can be much harder to pinpoint or define how they benefit your day-to-day experience. While there are much more than just cosmetic changes in Android 12, we’ll just be focusing on all of the end-user facing tweaks and alterations. Now that the stable release has dropped and is available on Pixel hardware, we’re going to dig even deeper and share every new feature and change we’ve found in Android 12 - the biggest overhaul to the world’s most popular mobile OS. The Pixel 7 Pro is $200 more than the OnePlus 11 and comes with Google's terrific suite of apps and features optimized for Pixel devices, but you'll get better photos, battery life, and performance with the OnePlus 11.We’ve had some time to dive deep into the Android 12 Previews and Android 12 Betas over the past few months. The S23 Plus excels where the OnePlus 11 doesn't and includes unique features like the S-Pen stylus, but it starts at $1,000. The OnePlus 11 is comparable to Samsung's Galaxy S23 Plus and Google's Pixel 7 Pro. These aren't deal breakers for what is a great phone overall, but you should take note. What may be more concerning to prospective buyers are the poor-quality selfie camera and the lack of wireless charging. While taste is subjective, we find the design uninspiring and the curved screen edges outdated. Its super-fast, 80W charging is only possible when using OnePlus' proprietary charger and cable, but the company includes them in the box. It's even more attractive when you factor in the $700 starting price, which is much lower than its direct competitors. We recommend the OnePlus 11 for its strong performance, stellar battery life, and great camera system. The OnePlus 11 offers great value with notable compromises. Even the new Google Pixel 7a, which costs $200 less, has this feature. Otherwise, the charging speed is limited to 18W when using third-party chargers, even if they support the fast-charging USB-C PD standard.įor a flagship device, it's disappointing that the OnePlus 11 lacks wireless charging. The OnePlus 11 supports up to 80W charging speeds, but there's a catch: You must use the included 80W charger and cable that support the company's proprietary "SuperVOOC" charging technology. For high intensity workloads, I perform two runs on the 20-minute 3DMark Wild Life Stress Test, and five runs of the Geekbench 5 benchmarking app. For low intensity workloads, it involves two hours of video streaming at a set screen brightness, and one hour of music streaming while connected to Bluetooth headphones. Our battery stress test is designed to simulate a mix of low and high intensity workloads. In day-to-day use, it means the OnePlus 11 will have a higher remaining battery life percentage at the end of the day than those phones mentioned above, but it doesn't change the fact that you'll need to charge it when you usually charge your phones. It's the closest an Android phone has come to matching the iPhone 14 Plus - the top phone for battery life with a result of 73%. In battery performance, the OnePlus 11 scored the highest result for an Android phone so far in 2023 - it completed our battery stress test with 71% remaining compared to the Galaxy S23 Plus' and iPhone 14 Pro Max's 67% result, the Galaxy S23 Ultra's 61%, and the Pixel 7 Pro's 57%. The OnePlus 11 supports up to 80W charging speeds with the included charger, but charges only up to 18W with third-party chargers of any kind.
